JD, From the research I have accumulated, there was over spray onto the nose housing of the starter. I have never seen that much of an over spray as the picture shows but anything is possible. More than likely it was a little over spray like this. ![](http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb334/resq302/starter%20restoration/102_5855.jpg) ![](http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb334/resq302/starter%20restoration/102_5854.jpg)

I know you guys have been doing this for a long time but is this a good example? I would be unhappy with all that black paint on anything but the metal cover. It should be painted off the starter body?
Yes, that overspray is correct. However, we don't have to apply it, or apply it as much if a customer doesn't want it.

Do you guys have any date-coded cores available? I can't make out the numbers on my original one. My starter is in good shape expect for the numbers..lol.
We have a few, but our main service is restoring what our customer's provide. What are you looking for?

As far as I can tell nothing was perfect or consistent with these cars. I had a 70 Challenger in 74 and it was far from a car that every detail was addressed. Overspray you bet. I will be digging out my starter this week to send to you for restoration and a rebuilt. I know that you will make it as close to original as it can be. Factor fresh but not perfect.
