I got a 96 Neon I,m trying to replace the oil pressure sending unit on because it is leaking. I can,t get the wire pig tail off of it first in order to get a wrench or sosket on the pressure unit. Is there a special tool to pop it off????? or a Special trick????? Can,t find anything about it in my Haynes Manual for the car...

It should have a yellow or red lock on plug. Lock needs to moved before plug can be released.

The plastic connectors can be a pain to get off sometimes. There is a red plastic lock that slides outward so that you can depress the release. Sometimes when you slide the red release, it will break and slide all the way out. Don't worry, it is not essential.

Occasionally, I will need to get a pair of needle nose pliers to depress the release, but it must be done carefully. Break the release and the plug won't stay on the switch.

Got it.....Got the red piece out, wiggled and pried on the pigtail.I had to remove 1 bolt and loosen another bolt on the small brace near the sending unit in order to get some movement on a wrench on the sending unit. What a pain in the rear.Tight quarters but I WON.......The engineers who pack all this stuff in a small space, never seem to have to "Work" on it after it is in Production...
