Temps are going to be in the 40s this week. I'm getting the itch to work on the Dart.
Where is the best place to get a windshield for the Dart? Local glass shops can get them, but I have read that the replacements being "too thin". Is this hear-say or is there something to it?
Thanks!

If you can live with tinted, then your local glass guy may be the ticket. But if you need a clear, then AMD is the only source I know of. I used Dixie for mine a while back. Good people to do business with.
Don't forget the gasket.

Worse yet, I have a 1968 convertible Barracuda. Try finding anything for the front windshield besides the glass!
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

Thanks guys. I have the new gasket already.
When you say tinted, are you referring to the blue/green band at the top of the windshield?

Tinted means the entire windshield has a light green tint to it. The darker band across the top of the windshield is called "shaded". Most tinted windshield you find will actually be both, tinted and shaded.

Car is 2 door hard top.
I don't think the rest of the glass is tinted. But I don't have another to compare against. What would the code be for tinted glass, and where should I look?

Just from looking at the car cover through the side and back glass, it appears that you have clear glass. If your glass were tinted, the cover would look more green when viewed through it.
Tinted glass was standard with factory A/C and as a stand alone option. If your car did not ship from the factory with A/C, then it is unlikely to have had it optioned separately.
You could use either windshield in your car if you wanted. Most people would never notice the difference. And the tinted is usually cheaper, and easier to find.
I have not heard that the new glass is too thin. Mine needed to be clear. And the only current source that I could find was AMD, which was much more expensive than a tinted one from my local glass guy.

The back glass is not in... lol that is why it is so clear looking. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif) I have two used rear windshields. I'll look at them closely, but I think they are clear. This car did not have factory A/C. Thanks for the help.

Update -- I went to Summit to buy a clear one, and the one they had was damaged. My luck.
So, I ordered one from the glass shop that I use for my other cars. It is green, but I knew that when I ordered it.
After some help from a member here, I crossed my build sheet over and the Dart came with a tinted windshield from the factory. This is not a concourse restoration by any stretch, but after looking at it, I went with the tinted one.
My eyes are somewhat sensitive to bright light and night driving, and I figured if I ever put air in the car it will help with that too.
Honestly, I think the clear one would have been "too clear" after seeing both of them.
