I'm looking to buy a new carburetor this race season and wanted opinions on these 2.

1. Bigs stage 5 950dp carb, currently on sale for $500.

or...

2. Proform 950dp carb (about $630).

Any opinions, experiences, pros/cons with either would be great. This is going on my 410 small block listed in my sig. Thanks!

I like the new Ultra 850HP carb. If it's a mild build, you might consider the std. 950HP.

What do you have now?

Also, don't get tripped up by how many different "950" carbs there are out there. CFM ratings for carbs aren't necessarily consistent w/ how they're labeled and what's a better point of comparison are venturi ID, throttle plate size and booster type.

Bigs redid my 850dp and it worked great. It now sits on the shelf since I switched to a 950 vacuum secondary.

Currently I have a "750dp"...it started life as a 650dp, I added a 750 Proform main body. It works well, just always wanted to see if a 950 will pick it up a little. One of my buddy's at the track with a similar engine had a race Demon carb, switched to a 950 and it ran exactly the same...so idk, it might help, it might not.

Borrow your buddies carb before buying one.

But, Jesse Biggs did a 850 for me, and it runs great. I need a bigger one myself, but too cheap to get one.

We used a Pro Form 950 OTB and picked up almost 2 tenths over a H 850dp I think which ever you get a better deal on..they are both good..it's on a 512 stroker

My old motor, the 390 which ran a touch slower than yours does, but in a heavier car, was maybe .03 faster with a 1000 AED on it over a 750HP and maybe .5 MPH. There wasn't a lot of difference.

I should probably start this in its own thread, but there was a third option I was considering....Converting my current carb to e85 using this kit from Rob Mix:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/750-850-950-1050...000&vxp=mtr

Has anyone had any experience with this conversion? Pro's/cons? This is on a 10.9:1 compression motor. Any better ET gains switching to e85?

Talk to AJ, He can convert your current carb for you, or sell you a kit to do it yourself.

Thanks Dustin for the link. I remember reading this thread a while back. I'll look AJ up and see what he suggests for my car .
