Is there anything on the fender tag that would indicate a 426 wedge? Are there markngs on the block to identify it?

Was a 4 speed available in 64?

Thanks,Dave

Check the body tag. I have a 65 Ply 426 wedge but can't remember the #'s right now.

Some other things to check...

big brakes 11x3 and a front sway bar.

Engine will have a pad to the right of the distributor with a stamping. The letter is the year and the rest of the numbers will be 426.

Would also have a chrome air cleaner and valve covers and log style exhaust manifolds.

ABC
143 on the fender tag stands for 426cid 4speed

The block will be stamped 42 HP on the pad opposite the distributor.

This info comes from the fender tag on my 64 Belvedere that came from the factory with the 426wedge and the 833 4speed

There should be the letter V in front of the 42.That would be for a 64 block an A would be a 65.
