Is it actually severe "bump steer"? And whats with 08 RAM 2500-3500 4WD having 248,000 recalls about the left outer tie rod breaking because it was not installed properly? Please do not move this post to the Truck section. Thanks

I just took my 2006 2500 4x4 megacab to have inspected under Recall N62. Is this to avoid the "death wobble"? They say mine has the correct front end parts installed. Hmmmm

Just did 6 of those recalls today.
If the steering shock attaches though a hole on the tie rod then no repair is needed.
If the steering shock is attached to the tie rod with a bracket and ubolts then it gets left and right tie rods.
The reason the left one was fracturing was that when it was aligned at the factory or by someone else didn't level the tie rods.
There was an earlier recall that had you check the angle of the left tie rod. If it wasn't level with the right one it got replaced.
The N62 is an inspection and tie rod replacement if needed on the older trucks that have the newer style steering linkage.
N49 recall is for 08 and up IIRC.

Mine is an 03. It had the death wobble a couple years back. Replaced the steering stabilizer (shock) no more issues. Happened at right about 200K.
