70 RR. Which is correct? Have seen both...

Originals were raw metal (as in "unpainted"), however, a full undercoat optioned car would have had them covered in undercoating along with most of the tank.

Galvanized silver is what I have seen on originals

Our factory full undercoated 69 GTX had only the sides of the gas tank undercoated and not the bottom of it. Probably varied from plant to plant and worker to worker.

Yes, I agree, coverage absolutely varied. My point for mentioning it was to point out that the straps were not always clean and shiny when new

My 500 convertible was the same way, mostly on the sides and front by the fuel sending unit, just a few spatters on the bottom from overspray
