noticed one of the pistons today that recently came back from the machine shop has a few nicks on the skirt, .

what's the best way to clean them up?

My machinist was cleaning some up last time I was there and after you dig out anything inbeded, he used 1,000 grip sandpaper and got it wet with parts washer solvent. Says he does it all the time on NHRA stocker rebuilds.
