Well, I've got an AMD passenger 1/4 panel and an original driver 1/4 panel and neither of the scoops line up. Just got car back from paint. Wondering if filler buildup in holes causes this. Thanks for any help. GP53

I hope you find a way to make it look good!

I have a bad news story to tell you about AMD quarters and the scoops though, The shop that did my car was doing a major metal replacement 70 RR while I was getting my car in the door and they were pretty disappointed with the AMD quarters and the scoop fitment. They ended up grafting the original scoop inlets onto the AMD quarters because they couldn't get the AMDs to look like the originals.
Im guessing your shop didn't fit the scoops for alignment before painting?

Im very thankful I didn't have to rely on AMD for anything on my project!

No he did not, very evident. But why the original driver's side scoop doesn't line up is beyond me. Scoops are marked LH ans RH.

Im lost on why the original dosent fit? did you buy another set of scoops? Just for fun did you try to reverse the sides?

Ive had lots of problems fitting everything onto my body due to paint build up/film thinkness. The shop apparently put lots of paint on my car.

Scoops are both from the car. Original pieces with part number and Pentastars. Tail panel letters went on just fine, but a little tight.

They are also painted body color, were they painted with the rest of the car?

There's no reason for the original quarter side not to fit. Maybe take a pic of how they fit, might be able to open up the holes some. I don't know how amd quarters are for 70 rr's, but the skins I've used took putty work for the scoops to fit right. Which isn't a good option after being painted already.

Not being a wise guy but you do know LH is drivers side...You would be amazed at how many think LH would refer to looking at the car versus sitting in it....Doesn't make alot of sense if the OEM qtr. scoop will not fit unless they plowed on the spray poly and it's really thick. Hope it works out for you maybe at best AMD makes the scoops and they will fit so you can just paint those....

A professional body man would have known to trial fit those side scoops while doing bodywork/priming along with the quarter end caps and the 4 sidemarker bezels. I have seen those AMD quarters on cars at shows and can spot them easily because the scoop buldge is not as defined and the bezel fits like crap.

I was facing that same problem. I just made holes little bit oval and scoop fits now perfectly. Quarter panel is from AMD, scoop is original.

Yup, that's what I ended up doing. Also shaved paint and metal off the scoop nest surfaces and then they sat down nice. Both fit very nice now. Made sure I sealed the bare metal I exposed from elongating the holes in the quarter panels. Then used body sealer from the inside when mounting the scoops for good. Lucky you with no paint on your car

Out of all the AMD quarters I have worked with, I have never had to graph in original metal to get the scoops to fit. Both full quarters and skins.

A little slotting of the holes and some filing on the scoop itself and they will fit. Remember these things weren't so great from factory anyway. I've seen them overlap onto the quarter by 1/8 of an inch.

I've had only a few cases where I've drilled 2 new holes and welded the others up.

This is even required on some factory quarters also if you want a better look than when they slapped them on down the assembly line.

Maybe I've just been lucky....
