I picked these headers up last week for $10. Theyre pretty clean with just light surface rust from sitting. Theyre big block, 1 7/8" primaries and 3 1/2" collectors. But the collectors are a 4-bolt flange. I want to clean them up and use them on my 69 Charger, but dont know what they are or if theyll work with power steering. If theyll work on my car, ill clean them up and repaint or coat them, and weld on some 3-bolt collectors. Any ideas? I figure if anybody would know, the Moparts crew would! [image]http:// [/image]

I hope not. The guy told me they are for B/E body. I figured for $10, its worth the gamble.

I thought they might be old Appliance headers or something. Theyre really heavy duty, thick tubes and flanges. But I havent found any numbers or tags anywhere to give me a hint as to what they are

Don't know what brand, but #6 plug looks like it'll be a pain to deal with.

I had a set of those a long time ago. I think they might be Black Jack as well.

they look more E-body and look like old blackjack headers to me.

look on the flat of the head flange..should be stamped in there and may need blasted to see it.

Ive never seen E-body only headers, but I wasnt around in the 70s. I though B and E body headers were the same. Im really hoping theyll work on my Charger. Ill have to start removing some paint to hopefully find some numbers....

B and E headers should all be the same as the engine compartment is the same.

I know that the old appliance headers used the 4 bolt flange on the collector, not sure on the blackjacks

I had a 66 pontiac tempest with a 400/2-speed glide with appliance headers with 4 bolt flange with 4 bolt flange glass packs. I had a set of Appiance steel mag rims on it too. looked like the criager SS wheels.

Are/were they good headers? My Charger is a floor shift and power steering car. Im just wondering about fitment issues. Obviously they have been installed in a car before, I just dont want to run into anything with the box. It looks like the pipes sweep back behind the box

from your pic, it looks to me the #1 tube already has the clearance dimple for the power steering box.

is that dimple from engine torque or did someone ding it with a BFH?

I know the engine torques away from the PS box but reverse would get the dimple from engine torque.

floor shift linkage?? in the instructions with most new headers I have had, it mentions fliping the torque rod and trans linkage up to clear tubes...but I have never had to do anything like that on any headers over the yrs on any body style.

ding with BFH/cut flange/remove steering linkage, trans leakage/jack engine up-down sideways to get them in...well I have done that with most of them. A-body suck.

been a while since I was putting headers on E-body but they look like they would go on with no trouble.

stand next to the car and hold header in the area it would be and get an idea of fitment..I have done that ID-ing headers.

whats a few hours to find out if they fit,get to wrenching.
