i understand that they were never available on 440 and hemi cars

and all t/a and aar cars had them

but what years and when or why did they come on 340s and 383s?

Well AARs and TAs were 70 and I know of one that came off of a 74 car, not sure if it was original. I have heard that they were a traction inhibitor and many were removed early on for that reason, that may be why they weren't available on 440 and Hemi cars.

They were part of the HD suspension package in 72-74. The dealer guides aren't correct in saying they only came on 340 cars. The 318 Rallye cars came with the HD suspension and had the rear bars as well.

I factory ordered a 71 Cuda, in May 71 with the 3.55 performance axle package.
Pretty sure the front and rear sway bars on the car, were part of that option.
It was a 383 4bbl car.

I believe they were included as part of the S13 - "rallye suspension": front sway bar (all year) & rear sway bar (after T/A & AAR production).

In '70 Dodge - S13 was STANDARD with R/T, A66, & E63. OPTIONAL with lesser engines: /6, 318, 383 2bbl.
I'll "assume" Plymouth was similar.

'71 model year may be a little different.

Who has an early '70 e-body non-A53 car broadcast sheet w/S41 on it? What SPD?

thank you for chiming in

funny thing is i have a buildsheet for an AAR and it doesnt have the S41 code checked off, even though we could all assume that it came with it.

I do have a buildsheet for a late, June i believe, 340 cuda that doesn have the S41 box filled in

id like to hear of other AARs and T/As all have the S41 box checked off or not

it makes wonder

I just looked thru a few and could NOT find an AAR or T/A with S41.

The first b'cast w/S41 I found was a 340 Challenger w/604 SPD, I also found a late June "EXPORT" /6 Challenger w/S13 & no-rear bar (maybe because of a 7-1/4" rear, what is AXLE 010?).

any more 1970 e-body owners that can chime in?

and not just going by the buildsheet, because i dont believe they always showed the rear swaybar and the t/a aar ones that are referenced dont show them on the bs, but if the car has or had it installed originally

Not sure on dates, but have a 71 383 rt with it, 73 340 car with it, 74 cuda 318 with it, and another 72 that had one. Now 2 70 318 cars, one vert and a 71 318 vert, neither has 1. And another 71 318 without it.
