Question...

How rare is the 15" 450 steel wheel/F60-15 option on 70 B's??

Does anyone have a breakdown?

Mike - I don't have anything with a breakdown but wouldn't every car with 15s (rallyes or 450s) have a 450 spare as well?

Yes...I think??

Space saver for E bods...Maybe the 15" Rallye wheel equipped cars got a Rallye spare as well? I see a lot of 14" wheels on 70 B's but very few with 15" steelies..Seems like most 70 B's that had 15's got Rallye's..when I got the black car, someone put Rallyes on it and I had no original wheels..

1970 and 1971 15 inch wheel B bodies with 390 rallys or 450 steelies would have a 450 wheel as a spare. E bodies would have a collapsible spare which did not use a 450 wheel. No rally wheels for spares.

I do not have a breakdown on the rarity of 15 inch tire without rally wheel on B bodies, sorry.

Except for Hemi cars which have a collapsible spare...

Mike,

My 1970 Hemi GTX is a 450 steel wheel car. I don't think this is common as B Body Hemi cars could be had with 14" wheels.

Mike ,
My 70 hemi gtx came with 15" rally wheels and a 450 in the trunk. Don't know if it came from the factory that way but I can check the broadcast sheet.

The problem with Chrysler's numbers are the 14" & 15" "rallye wheels" carried the same code - so there is one number for "rallye wheels". This also affects the steel wheel number (14" & 15"). I tried to crunch the numbers when I had my "450" wheel'd '70 GTX & this is as much of a breakdown as I could figure:

T86 = F70-14 "white stripe" tires STANDARD * 40.9% (~2921 cars)
T87 = F70-14 w/RWL tires no/charge * 49.9% (~3563 cars)
U84 = F60-15 w/RWL tires $63.25 * 8.8% (~628 cars)

hub caps (14" & 15") STANDARD & W11 = "deluxe wheel covers" $21.30 * 22.8% (~1627 cars)
W15 = "wire wheel covers" $64.10 * 1.8% (~129 cars)
W21 = "rallye wheels" (14" & 15") $43.10 * 26.8% (~1914 cars)
W23 = "road wheels" $86.15 * 48.6% (~3471 cars)

I'm sure it is a pretty small percentage of people that ordered a GTX (other b-body etc.) with a set of $63.25 F60-15 tires & knew they were purchasing a set of aftermarket "MAGS" the day they received the car.

HEMI e-bodies & T/A Challengers are going to be the highest percentage of "450" wheel'd cars - 15" tires & "450" wheels were STANDARD equipment!
