I sent my transmission to a shop to get looked at and replace whatever is needed, I got a call back from the guy and he ask if I had a kickback linkage? And explained it runs off the carb back to the tranny and control preassure in the tranny and some other things? Not really familiar with this so if you know more please feel free to school me! At any rate the 440 im putting in wasnt original to the car but was paired with this tranny I got as part of the deal and Im not sure if I have the piece he is asking about - anywhere I can get it?

Its a rod setup that goes to the lever on the trans from the carb. There are 2 levers on the trans. One for gear selection one kick down.It controls when the trans shifts and kicks it down to a lower {passing gear} when you floor it to pass.Unless you have a manual valve body you need the kick down.Rocky

So no one is making the kick down repop? Seems the best way to go if they are available...

They are pretty common & look in the parts for sale section (BB parts I believe) as there was one for sale with a pic which will enlighten you as to what we are dealing with here. EDIT Might be trans/diff parts for sale section

Spotted this on the BB parts:
Factory Big Block 3 piece 4bbl kickdown linkage. Factory assembly off an early 70's Factory 440 powered truck.

Would this work for mine?

Depends on the mfg year of your transmission, IIRC 72 and up 727 Bblk trannys don't have the threaded cast boss for the 3 pc linkage bellcrank that mounts on the side of the bellhousing, because a 1 pc kickdown rod is employed

I used the kick down cable and I love it. Was easy to install, easy to adjust and it works perfect. Unless I was building a factory correct resto, I would use it every time.

Call the tranny shop & have them go see if there's the threaded boss on the DR side for the kickdown pivot to thread into. I had assumed that all of em did. You'll have your answer in minutes
