Can any tell me where the feet are positioned when they contact the engine off of a shaker 4bbl baseplate? We are talking a Challenger with a 440. Photos would be great if you have them.

Thanks!!!

Jeff - We'll have to see if Terry McCann checks in, but I think 440-4bbls didn't have feet.

Search only goes back 2 years. 440 4bbl would have to use feet too as the scoop starts to spin without them. Not exactly the desired "shaker" effect.

In "key word" put shaker base feet. In date range put newer than 6 years, older than 5 years. It's on the second page "SHAKER BASE FEET....WHERE DO THEY GO" There are measurements on one of the drawings.

you can also google "shaker feet" and "moparts" and find many old posts that way.

You will find some discussions on the lack of feet for 440 4bbl cars.

I also emailed Dave West last night about his original 440 4bbl shaker car and got this response: "....my shaker baseplate is the original and did not have the feet...and the only other 4 bbl shaker car that i know off never had feet either."

AFAIK there are no feet/brackets on the 440-4bbl shaker baseplate

The drawing above is for the 6-pack base which used the same style of 'feet' as the Hemi

Understood, and the number of factory 440 4bbl shaker cars must be less then 10 so they are rare, If no feet then what keeps the scoop from spinning?

Thanks

Thats an oldie Colin provided of a crude sketch of as Vlad says, 6 pak feet brackets.
440-4v did in fact not have feet brackets installed when the vendor manufactured them for Chrysler.
While it is true they were for stability I would not go so far as to say say they were to keep the scoop from spinning.
If your base is original does it by chance have a strip of orange paint on it by the carb neck?
440-4v base is same base as a 71 340 base less the feet brackets.
That is why there were separate part numbers for each of those bases.
