I would like to try one of the self learning efi systems.
I think my combo is on the edge for them. Will one support what I have?
500 cube, 11-1, 240 duration solid roller with max wedge stage 6 heads.
It should make 575hp. It's a street car.
It runs a msd digital 6al. Don't know if that matters.
I don't have the engine running yet, but its in its home.
I have an hp1000 Holley but my poor choice as it has no vac ports.

The limit is generally 600hp with one tbi unit. Your cam duration is fine for good vacuum at idle so I would go with a FAST EZ-efi with dual TBI's....My single tbi unit is for sale, add a second tbi and wella...

Careful... You still need at least 9" of idle vacuum and when was the last time you saw a normally aspirated 1200 HP engine with 9" of vacuum? All that FAST is saying is that the injectors are large enough.

That is a little tougher...I had trouble with a cam at 244 duration and to go to a custom curve on the distributer to get idle vacuum higher...Basically more timing at idle. This can also have the draw back of being tough to start if you go too far.

At 262 duration, I would be looking at the Sportsman XFI self learning system...you can still use a tbi, but it won't give you the headaches of trying to get the idle and transition to work.

the recent car craft mag has an article comparing msd atomic, e street edelbrock, fast ez-efi 2.0, and holley terminator sysyems on a 590hp [i think] BBC. that article mite have some info that may be of use.

If you ask him nicely, Mopar Rich might send you one of his spec sheets to fill out and return to him so he can do a calculation of the vacuum your motor will produce.

My 493 has the MP509 which is 248 @ .050. I'm running a Commander Pro TBI which is pretty stone age now and the only way we could make it behave at idle/low RPM was to set it to run alpha numeric under 1800 rpm. The Holley system will allow you to switch automatically. With a big cam there is so much reversion that it just drove the closed loop nuts. Once we went A/N it ran like nails. Starts instantly and idles well even tho the A/F indicates pig rich. If we lean the idle out it runs like crap so we just set the idle where it sounds happy and ignore the A/F.
