The "R" is likely the first digit of the VIN RP..... in this case.

Didn't someone on Moparts find a very similar car a year+ ago. Hemi-orange 383 Satllite?? The question about the 383 call-outs reminded me of it. I believe it also had the "no spec" door sticker & was in Nebraska or Oklahoma??

Or is this the same car only moved over and up a few states? How long has it been in Wyoming?

I posted a year or two ago when I first found the car. I didn't have the fender tag available then, and the car was for sale for way too much money.

I just checked, and the engine is numbers matching to the car. However, the engine is orange, and does not appear to have been repainted. I thought that in 71 a 2bbl. 383 would have been blue. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The 383 2bbl would've/should've been blue in any '70 or '71 Mopar including a Satelitte Sebring Plus, but what was the purpose of this "highly" unusual "NO SPEC", "front & rear spoiler", "HEMI-ORANGE" SSP??

Is it missing the front bench? Have you looked for a broadcast sheet? Does it still have a 2bbl intake on it?
My guess is you will have to disassemble & see if it is "stock" '71 383 2bbl specs., but I missed on the chrome bumper so who knows?

Does the bumper in the trunk have the same damage as the header panel?

My '71 SSP doesn't have the 383 callouts above the front marker light. I was told it was original paint and it appears that way but, of course, who knows.

Did the 2-brl cars have this too? Mine is a 383/2-brl.

I have known about this car for several years. I believe that it came from California in the late 1980's.

It has been driven very little since then and only has changed ownership a couple of times.

I always assumed that someone added the go wing, but I didn't really care. When it came up for sale a few days ago, my intent with it was to build a tribute car to a orange 340 71 RR that I scrapped years ago...Obviously, that plan isn't going to happen now, but (without making this sound like a for sale ad), I don't have any use for it now. This car has to be one of ????

I doubt that a build sheet will be found. Car is missing carpet, headliner, and has bucket seats out of something else. There is no build sheet in the back seat either.

The car still has a 2bbl. We got it running today and it sounds good. Left exhaust manifold is dated 5-11-70. It is a magnum type, with a standard type on the right which I believe is correct for a 71 B body. The engine is orange with no evidence of ever being blue, and is matching numbers to the car.

Another couple of things of interest....it has power disk brakes. Does NOT have an 8 3/4. I think that it has an 8 1/4, but I never checked too closely. (no, it isn't a dana!).

The bumper in the trunk is dented like the header panel.

All '71 SSPs with the 383/2-brl got the 8 1/4 rear end. The 4-brl got you the 8 3/4.

You are probably correct about the rear end, but as odd as this car is, no telling! I have a 72 Coronet 4dr. with a 400 2bbl....it has 8 1/4 rear.

I also have a 72 Satellite 2dr that is petty blue with a 318 and a 3 on the tree....it has an 8 3/4!

I believe I had a pretty close match to yours, but no spoilers. My buddy has it , it was from Colorado. I'll try to take some pics. I was to chop it up for parts for a GTX, but he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I am looking for a 71 Sat , no title needed. Total drag car, no rust. Anybody ? Sweet Satellite. Sell it to me !!

I wonder about the 383 sticker on the fender. I had a 71 SSP code N 383HP car. Looked to be original paint and no 383 sticker on the fender. Did have an 8.75 rear.
I've also had a couple 71 383 2-bbl cars with no stickers.

It appears as if the car has been repainted once...at least most of it has been. The 383 decals were there when it was painted as you can tell that they had been masked off.

I was always led to believe that the fender callouts were installed only on GTX and RR that had air grabber hoods since non air grabber cars had them on the hoods.

This Satellite is breaking all the rules....wish I had a buildsheet!

The fender decals were probably one of those items that didn't get consistantly installed even though the engineering drawings called for them. I've seen several original paint L code SSPs that did have them.


Dan, what made you think this one would have a rubber bumper?

It has the taillight bezels....well, one is in the trunk and the other is still on the car. Grille that came with the car has the red/white/blue emblem. The grille is broken, so I assume that it is the one that was on the car.

It's a long shot but if the glove box cardboard liner is still there, feel up on top and see if there is a bc sheet stuck to it.

Heres the emblem that I spoke of. I've owned about a gazillion 71-2 Plymouths this is the only one of these that I've ever seen. I put it on my 72 SSP.
