Are you building the Gen 3 Hemi for your duster or to replace the 360?

How did you mount the manifolds backwards? I thought they could only go on one way (non symmetrical bolt pattern), did you swap heads side to side? That'll really make that Savoy dangle

I actually took the 360 out to put a set of decent rods in it, and some more cam. I'm putting a Dana in the car so switching from the 3.23 gear to the 3.55 will require some more RPM on the big end (looking for around 6500 now).

But I bought a pair of Gen 3 hemi's cheap so I can start putting one together. They are 5.7's, but with some boost they will make PLENTY of power.

I am not sure what I'm doing yet. I just thought that I'd drop it in to see how it fits... manifolds fit nearly perfect, and the trans looks like it will bolt right up to the stock location. It'll drop in pretty easy. I mostly wanted to see how the manifolds fit, and they are perfect. They are a nice 3" outlet too, so they will support a ton of power.

You are correct, I flipped the heads left to right to make the manifolds fit.

We'll see... unless someone comes along and buys the 360 here, it'll probably be at least another year before I do anything with the hemi.

Sure looks good in their though....

You got my attention!!!
I'm surprised the car front cover actually fit?
IIRC when you swap heads from side to side there maybe an oiling issue?
Can't remember what it was. Possibly a drain back issue.
Can't wait to see it run. Matt

Why not put a phord 9" in it considering the limited gear ratios with a Dana for a turbo car...

Could the heads be redrilled for the opposite side manifold pattern? Those look like they fit really well, like they were made for going around the steering box. Ever thought of finding a Dana 61? They had a 3.07 gear ratio and only differ abit from the Dana 60. They were found in 1st gen Cummims with the 727

The only thing I can see different on the heads, is that the egr will need to be plugged. Other then that I can't see why the left and right don't switch. I just started at Chrysler about 2 months ago though, so I'll track someone down from the engine group to verify.

I talked with Bob at modern this week about the heads, they can do them but the early heads don't have a ton of valve spring options. That might push me to the later heads (which flow nearly 50cfm out of the box better then the early heads also). So we'll see what I end up doing. Just mocking up for now, but nice to see how easy it fit.

The heads don't look to have enough meat in the casting to Redhill the pattern.

I already had the right width Dana with disc brakes ready to go, so it didn't make sense to start over with a 9" or 61.

The car should run better with some more cam anyway. It's got its tongue hanging out on the big end right now as it is!

I was going to do a 5.7 turbo, having been inspired by your 360. Since my Cuda is an original 440 car, and to simplify things, I'm sticking with the big block, so the 5.7 stuff I bought is available. 2003 5.7 long block, plus 2 6.1 cranks, and a truck timing cover. I thought the high mount alt. might help pipe routing, but who knows. Keep the updates coming, I love reading about that thing !

Modern Muscle said they could make the any head fit any side if needed no problem, dont know if they weld up and re-drill or what. Thitek heads come dual drilled. The Eagle head would be the preferred head for sure.

Mopar to the bone!!!

Eagle heads bolt up to a 5.7 block and flow right up here with 6.1 and 6.4 heads.

Kind of OT but what's the issue with the GenIII rocker arms again? Pretty sure it's when lift gets in the .650 range geometry gets ugly. Also, do all the Gen III's use the same rocker arms? I thought the Eagle heads used different ones because of longer valves

I was told the rockers are the same. Just pedestals are taller.

.650" might keep it from being an ultimate race head, but they are pretty good for a factory casting. The 6.4l heads can be had for $1500 complete, flow 340cfm un ported, use stock rocker arms to 8k rpm(drag pack guys), have a factory block that can take 1000hp, and a 6.1L crank can keep up at that power level for a few hundred bucks.

Pretty hard to beat for most guys.

Steff's 6.1l headed motor made 780hp on pump gas with a hydraulic roller. The lift can't be holding them back too bad.

I'd take a $1500 340cfm head at .650" over a $3500 330cfm indy at. 750" all day.... Lol

Is it auto or manual?
What induction are you using?
