This is something I don't expect when talking about professional resto. Or maybe I am just picky.

They were die castings and were dipped in a gold dichromate solution. I can restore them for you if you need the service.
Scott is my hero, however, unless you plate the housings first and then install the pigtails like they were done originally, they will not look original. Also, over the years, pot metal becomes "porous" and will not plate the same as it did when it was first made.

I appologize, I used the word "restore" above and I should not have without explaining further. I attempt to communicate the details of this job to anyone who inquires: When it comes to tail/side marker/turn signal housings, etc.. my service includes re-coloring the parts, I do not "restore" them, as in, a complete restoration. Wiring or socket installation/removal, silver paint and other detailing is up to the customer. If I failed to communicate this to you (ArcticCuda) not a problem, I suppose that's my fault, I just refunded your total payment.

What is included is clear, but in my world restoration starts by cleaning parts and for example removing old gaskets. I was told that your parts are show winning and most bang for the buck.
That's why I'm confused.
My very first concern is customer satisfaction, I will always bend over backwards to help resolve any issues that arise and I appreciate your patronage. Again, I am sorry for any failure to properly communicate what is included in the job you hired me for. As I mentioned in my first reply, without being asked I already refunded the total amount you paid (including shipping).
In the future I would appreciate it if you (or anyone else I have business with) would contact me first to discuss questions or concerns about any of my work, please at least give me a chance to resolve the issue before posting negatively on a public forum, this posting is the first I've heard about your displeasure.
Thank you! Scott

For someone who always is so quick to point out someone's imperfections!!! How could you let something like that go out to a customer??? I am embarrassed for you...

I only offer to re-color housings. Other than a general cleaning of the surfaces to be colored that show after assembly. I do not do any disassembly, any special prep in non visible areas, scrape gaskets, add silver paint, wire R&R, etc. Any further work needed would need to be done by the customer before and after sending them. Yes the gasket material on the set above looks like crap, however once the remaining gasket material is removed, the insides are re-painted silver, and a new gasket installed so it would become a non issue. Keep in mind that I explain all of this prior to accepting the work so that everyone knows what to expect, the only embarrassment I need to feel in this case is for my failure to properly convey this to ArticCuda. Also, this is an excellent example of why I don't do general rebuilds or partial rebuilds or plating of carburetors and stick to 100% restorations only (I turn away A LOT of partial work requests!). There's just too much potential for a misunderstanding of what is expected in the finished product. For this reason I'll probably just stop coloring anything other than bare metal examples received.

On the same topic is there a special tool used to install the new plug socket? If so where can it be purchased?
Yep, there is a special tool, it sits right next to the press we use to install them. No, they are not being reproduced. I had my machine shop make that one as well as the smaller one for the side marker pigtail.
