Just curious if you guys have seen the latest Mopar Action (April 2014) article where a company (SDconcepts.com) has come up with some adapters and brackets to use 1992-1998 Magnum pulleys on your big/small block. I do see some of the advantages Ehrenberg points out over the V belts (especially for A/C stuff). Just wondering what you guys think about it and if it's worth it, and if you would do it to your ride?

I read the article. I think it may be cool for some but not for me. It looks too
busy" or bulky to me.

hey guys, this is my kit. we welcome all the comments and feed back good or bad. the kits have been in production for about 10 years now in various configurations. they started in cast aluminum as they were modified factory peices. now everything is cnc machined 6061 aluminum. we will be doing a billet pulley kit as well for those who don't want to go junkyard hunting for parts. also we have an alternator only kit, as well as an a.c kit, and are bringing out a low mount ac kit.

small block stuff is coming too. sometimes the wait take a while but we don't release anything until its perfect.

Looks like a cool kit with the tensioner. I made my own with pulleys from 440 source I used factory brackets for the alt and power steering. How ever I did build brackets for the small ac compressor and mounted it low. Mine doesn't use a tensioner but I've done this exact set up on two cars with bigblocks and haven't had any problems with just the idler. This one has a powermaster 150amp alt and the other is a billet unit from quality power.

Maybe I missed something, but the E-Berg article I read was Junk-yard-Rock Auto sourced parts and a GM belt tensioner.Looked like a lot of work for what benefit?

the kit does all the use of some junkyard parts. however all the brackets and spacers and bolts are provided in the kit we sell.

more info can be found at www.sdconcepts.com, my web guy is behind on updating our site with the new info so if there is anything specific you need to know about let me know. Jerry

I for one like the concept. And when you can use both Pic n Pull parts and new CNC'd AL brackets or the whole new kit offering, it to me really stands out on a pretty much stock motor. I also like the Bergman Power Steering upgrade in a previous MA a few months ago. I have to tell you all something and it may go against some grain here, but for my money, just about everything that Rick EBooger has done in developing and promoting reasonable and solid upgrade options, is quite frankly some of the best Tech out there. His ideas and concepts won't break the bank either. I have incorporated his brake technology, electrical, and others to great success. Keep at it Rick as I for one am a big fan and supporter....

Nothing I'd cozy-up to...

Proper belt tension, pulley alignment(and size)have worked well for a lot of years...

I've never had a V-belt failure...

Be it at the strip, or on the street...

(But I can tell you about a serpentine that got thrown on a vehicle I had...30 miles after I drove it off the lot brand new...

What a cluster-%*#& THAT was to get resolved)...

Totally agree, everything doesn't have to be the latest greatest gizmo designed (mainly) to separate you from your money.

Hey guys thanks for your replies, and Jerry, thanks for making this product for us Mopar guys! I am going to order a kit for my 65 Belvedere when the 440 is ready to drop in with A/C. I do like the stuff E booger writes, one of the main reasons I read Mopar Action besides the good humor they have in their articles.

Mopar Action tech is great. I've learned plenty from that magazine.
Now that I saw another example, I may REthink this. The guy with the low mount A/C makes it a cleaner setup. I'd guess it requires an electric fuel pump since the A/C sits in the same space?

i'll post some spy pics of our low mount ac kit tomorrow morning. I guess its more of a mid mount since we put the ac where the alternator is. this allows you to keep a stock mechanical pump. the alternator gets moved up to where the ac goes, normally. since we use the magnum alternator its a lot smaller than stock.

it's in but I have to remove it all, swap WP housings and reinstall. Kit is designed for aftermarket aluminum WP housing and I have the stock 71 housing my engine came with.

I like having the alt, p/s, a/c and tensioner available anywhere for replacement. These parts are easily sourced, especially if you are broke down on a sunday in the middle of nowhere. Can you say that about the packages from other companies? This is one of my pet peeves with some of the brake packages available too. Its why I got my stuff from Dr. Diff. Having trick a/m stuff blows when you can"t get replacement parts. Just because it looks cool isn"t enough of a selling point for me. Hooray for SDR! Will be ordering when I can swing it.

Does anyone make 'matched set' V-belts anymore? I haven't been able to find 'em locally for over 15 yrs. If you own something vintage with AC, you need two belts to run the compressor. It never fails that unless it is a matched set, one ends up flopping around even if you tighten the bejesus out of it.

I may look into the serpentine setup.

the only place I have found matched v belts, is at industrial supply house like grainger or motion industries. and the prices for these belts are usually in the $65 dollar range for a matched set and usually they are special order. but its been a while since I looked for some. I always had the problem with my ac cars that one belt would always squeal since you could never get one completely tight.

sorry I haven't gotten the pics up of the low mount ac setup but we've been crazy busy now that the article came out in mopar action.
