She's got 176,000 on her and it's really wet and foggy here today but here goes. When you shift from park to any gear it bangs hard like if it was idling at 2000 rpm and you drop it into gear. Upshifting from there is fine but downshifting it slams into the lower gear hard unless you give it a little gas while you are braking. Any ideas would be appreciated unless it's the torque converter LOL

Start by looking close at the mounts

May be a worn pump if it is a 604 trans. It would cause the CVI to run high and that would cause it to bang in gear and on some downshifts. The addaptive memory would learn of the higher count if the pump took time to build pressure when first started and put in gear. But thats only if its the electronic 604 (41TE) trans. Ron

No kiddin, that ain't sounding good on the labor end lol cause i won't touch that. I suppose the filter may be clogged too and restrict flow? Fluid is nice and red, smells good too so i havn't bothered with the fluid and filter kinda left well enough alone.
I'm taking her in in the morn, i'm crossing my fingers i like the old girl. Thanks for the help Ron.

No problem. Good luck. Have them scann it also because if it would be a pump problem many times it will set a "Loss of Prime" code. Ron

Ok so the azzholes that replaced the trans mounts about a month ago apparently did'nt tighten the through bolt on the front mount and it fell out. So now i have a ripped boot on the brand new drivers side axle i just put in right after the trans mounts were done, they ordered a new boot but i think they should replace the whole shaft for warranty purposes. And now the brand new belt is squealing when you turn hard what a joke, i really hated to be an azz but i'm sick of this crap, i gave them $170 to do the mounts because i dont have a hoist and a screwed up hand then i did the axle myself.

When it's your car, that someone else screwed up, and your money that was spent to get it fixed in the first place, it's only right to be as much an a** as it takes get their attention and fix it right on at least part of their dime.

Hope it gets done right this time

Yes i'm not complaining too much, very glad the trans is ok. Now i have to assess the damage, the new belt they put on at the same time now squeals when you turn the wheel. Gotta look and see what ripped the new cv boot and make sure the other sides ok and blah blah. The little weasel service manager told me i couldn't go back out in the shop cause i reamed his azz prob shoulda looked first then complained lol. The best thing is my wife works in the office handling the titles and billing and such at this dealer. Just kills me it all happened because he didn't tighten the nut on the through bolt but they managed to torque the wheels on so tight on the wifes car that they screwed up the lug nut caps and stretched every stud.
