Spent the afternoon riding around in my friends 01 Cummins Quad Cab 4X Dually. He is approaching the 200,000 mile mark. We were discussing about if the rack needs to be adjusted like the the big trucks.. What say yee ???

I am truckless..

What are you referring to when you say the "rack"?

I think he means adjust the valves, if that's it, 24 valve scheduled service is 150,000 miles. I'm at 128,000 now.

On the cummins its basically a valve adjustment. Running the rack was a more common term on detroit and other mechanical injected diesels. The rack was ran off the governor and there were several steps that were critical to the engines operation.
