Hey Al,yeah the races are definitely picked for their favor, the one you mentioned and the one with Chuck and the Grey Mare Fox body,Chuck's is a 460" SBC Fox body with 2 kits, gutted, no mufflers and what loked like 12" tires, while the Mare is a 331",single carb, naturally aspirated with a 5-speed,9" slick and mufflered since it actually drives on the street. Now I admit Chuck's car is fast, and give him credit, but if the two met at any local street race spot and were setting up a race, no way would the N/A car accept a heads up race. And by the way, OKC prepped the road and was making passes that afternoon for several hours as its 4 miles from my house. Someone,(not me) posted video on youtube of that.

I like the show. I see some things that are far fetched or maybe some runs that are unfair. But, it is a show. And a lot better for me than most other stuff on TV.
VA back in the day was ridiculous with street racing. There was a guy from Roanoke that traveled the state every weekend. My wife and I were dating and I saw this guy up Northern VA tearing up them guys bill folds. That is a good 4 hour ride. I work all over and would see him trailering everywhere. Several guys from Roanoke won Orlando. They owned that place for several years. In my hometown every time there was a new highway built it was quickly stripped with rubber in both lanes just about every place you could imagine decent enough to run. There are still guys around that do this stuff but, they have a list of excuses and pretty much only run stock suspension and small tires now.
I don't condone street racing. There have been a lot of close calls here. Mostly with the people fighting to try and get in front of each other driving to "The spot". Never seen a car trailered to a street race. That said, most all the out of town guys hauled into town. Nothing like hearing two beast ripping it up in the night.
It is just a lot safer and better for me and my family to just watch Street Outlaws and enjoy.
I would love the chance to race some of these guys on a no prep surface. We actually have one available. New London and in no prep it is every bit the challenge as any street.

The ole gray mare is also an NA car. Small tires, full exhaust street car to boot. Bode is a 706 with a few stages, Izzy is a turbo deal the other two are nitrous small blocks/ Also FWIW I would highly doubt Gypsy Mike had a bottle in his car. Unless he swapped motors just to run the race, which I doubt as well. His NA deal is a Hot Street motor. I think if you opened a nitrous bottle near one they would blow up I have known some of those guys for a long time and know what they are capable of running.

Just curious..... was Gypsy Mike the first N/A car on the show?
The Grey Mare Fox body Mustang.. 331 inch, Dominator carb, N/A with a Stick shift.. "Actual Small slick" and street driven.. Raced Chuck's "Small Tire" car.(looks like 12.25 x 31.25's to me which actually measure 13.5") With a fogger and a plate unit.. Fair huh??

I guess I missed the gun the outlaw guys had pointed at these Cali guys to race. I guess they couldn't say no?
Those were most likely in the background off camera, with the guys that couldn't race..
As said before.. TV cameras will make some do things that seem silly..
It looks like Rich Christensen picked some of the pairings..

The Caifornia cars picked who they wanted to race.

I guess it is a lot of the ego talking, but some of the stuff Cheif and the others say is just . Somewhere I saw Daddy Dave downplaying his loss (?) in Chicago because he got into gravel or out of the groove. But the California guys got off the pavement and it proves their cars are slow? Shawn was sweating bullets against the Vega, and the guy goes off the road and suddenly he can beat that car anywhere? Next season should be fun!

I flipped it on for the last fifteen minutes and one car broke, one nitrous car ate a few pistons, and a lot of advertisements. Watch the last 20 minutes on a DVR and skip threw the advertisements.
Anyone read the article in the latest issue of Hotrod? " We street race because it's a bulls**t surface that actually means something to try and get a car like ours down it. If you can get down that street, hats off to you because you are a bad mother f****r. If you have to have a glued track to get your million dollar car down it, well, your just like every other rich guy in the country." Well, that explains it.
Well they could always race in mud if they really want to show us something..
Or bring them up to Wisconsin and do some ice racing since they never seem to want to film that show at any temperature above 40 degress anyway.

Finally got to see the season finale... probably the worst episode I saw this season. First they race on the track, so much for "street" outlaws, then against of a bunch of cars that couldn't get down the road.
really? you need to take up knitting as a hobby
