I was looking at Jeff Lutz' 57 Chevy at the PRI show in Indy on Friday. If you notice from the upper ball joint (easier to see the passenger side), there is no bar going back into the roll cage. This seems like a weak/less safe design. I'd be interested in hearing from chassis guys how they feel about it.

Those are upper strut mounts. I am sure the car is double railed all the way to the nose

This is the way I was taught to triangulate the front
from a big time pro chassis builder.. its the way I
still do it... this was certed to 7.50... but with a
few more bars in the pass compartment could have certed
even lower... but who am I to say that wrong because
he has his certed to 6s

Many of the pro-mod style double frame rail chassis are made this way.The front motor plate and mid plate tie the chassis together. You must take the weight off the front suspension to install these plates or the attaching holes will never line up.

Yeah if its a double rail its all different... and
I'm sure it has a pipe up between the bars at that point

SFI does not require specs for in front of the firewall if I remember right.
