Had a friend that had the 8" on the front of his 69 RR. The wheels would rub the zerks in the ball joints. Had to run 1/8" spacers. Id run 7" on the front if it was mine..
I am truckless..

Are you sure you are remembering right and don't mean the wheel weights.
A 15" rim will not come close to a zerk. A 15x8 will come close to the edge of the upper control arm. With the 73-76 A-body disk brake swap, they do not rub with 15x8 rims with 4.5 backspacing. I've ran that setup for years.
But I did have a tire blowout on the freeway and I drove it to get off the freeway on the rim with a destroyed tire. That knocked a wheel weight off.
