Hey guys, I have an early b body 8 3/4 rear end in the car and tried a set of nice torque thrust D 15x7 wheels and 215 60 15 tires on the dart and they rub the outside of the tires against the quarter panels ever so slightly. The inner panel lips have been rolled flat but there is not enough clearance. I have lots of room on the spring side. The wheel specs say there is 3.76 backspacing on those wheels which is obviously not enough. My question is, would the 15x6 torque thrust D wheel with 3.66 backspacing and the same tire solve the rubbing problem? I want to stay away from mixing wheel and tire sizes front to back so I can carry only one spare. I really like the look of this wheel but with my non stock width rear end this is making me think I need to go back to my old 14" road wheels and scrap the idea. Thanks in advance for any input.

The wheels have the same back space, only .1 difference, but the wheel is 1" narrower. Which means in theory, you should gain .9" on the wheel lip side of things. It will probably be even more than that because a smaller wheel will pull the tire in more.

Yes it should fix your problem. Or find a 7" wheel with more back spacing.

Thanks for checking my math Dustin. I also figured .9" gain on the outside using the 6" rim. It would make the tires pooch out a little but it would probably work. I decided to follow the other suggestion and go with a 15x7 with more backspacing. Summit brand legend series has a torque thrust look alike in gunmetal color that has 4.25 backspacing 15x7 for 115 bucks each so I will probably go that route. I have a buddy who wants the torque thrust d's for his model a truck project. Thanks again for the help.
