While cleaning and detailing under the hood I noticed a strip of black paint on the front lip under the hood. The paint is warn and looks like it's been there for some time. I believe it to be original, but of course it could have been painted somwhere along the way. Did all Charger's get this or could it be part of the Rallye grill treatment?

My 72 Rallye had it....Rustoleum satin black enamel(oil based) with a brush looked perfect, remember the factory didn't take any pains with this.

Here's a factory print for the '71 treatment...... I would think it probably carried over to '72.
