Just got my car back from the resto shop.
The original hood is bowed, to the point it is above the fender.
I know there have been several posts about this and one just recent.
Does anybody repair these?
Are the aftermarket hoods any good?
Better off to live wive with it since it is the original hood?
Will it get worse or brake/crack?

My hinges evidently didn't get restored, I can wiggle the hood side to side a little and above where it would rest in the up position.
Is that normal, and can they be rebuilt, by whom?
I don't let the hood sit pinned and it is too cold to let it sit I the sun, so will have to wait till next year.
I also remember posts saying YO was selling the wrong springs , anyone know the final verdict?
Coil count and such?
Lots of questions so thanks for any answers

How bad is the bowing? Post a picture.

I've owned my AAR since 76. Here's the scoop. All the original hoods bowed. That is how you can distinguish an OEM hood from a repop! Even the OEM hood springs were too strong for the hood. They all try to open the hood when it is closed; therefore, it bows up. The hoods were replaced in warranted for that reason. There is not a long enough metal brace where the hood hinges bolt to the hood. So the factory released a bulletin to remove the springs and use a prop rod to hold the hood up. That is what I did and the hood straightened right back down flat with the fenders. No weights or repair, just the Texas sun. I still have he oem springs and when I go to a show, I just put them back on by hand so the prop rod is not in site.

I have a new REPO AAR (manufacturer, not the car) for my T/A. It looked great 5 years ago when I first got it but now it has the bow as well and yes, I have the T/A springs on my hinges. The way i look at it, it looks "factory" now

The added benefit is you don't loose your hood if you forget the pins. It will not fly up as fast and you can catch it if you are quick and hit the brakes. Here is my original paint AAR. The black was repainted but no fiberglass work was done to straighten it out.

That hood looks very nice and even with the fenders.

Let's say it fits the discription that was once quoted in a "back in the day" AAR roadtest magazine,...he can check the oil without opening the hood, quite literary!

I'm surprise a "resto" shop let that hood slide by like that, either cut the underbracing and reglass the hood, and repaint the underside, it's going to be a tedious and delicate repair seeing the car is finished in organsol, a new hood will require a reshoot, and organsol, no matter how good the painter, is not going to "match" the paint finish on top of the fenders/header to the new hood, so a complete reshoot of the organsol will be in order for the entire hood/fender/header/door black out if you want a uniform appearance....I'm sure there will be others chimming in on how to remove the springs, use some cinder block/sun nonsense, or in some cases recommend "heat guns" ....IMHO your stuck either living with what you have, replaceing/repainting, or reworking the current hood...

Most AARs came with washers between the fenders and the inner fenders in some locations to bow the fenders up to meet the hood

HUH? Are you serious? I've never heard of washers EVER on a Mopar fender top rail & have never seen them on any Mopar, & I've dismantled MANY of them. This is not true. The AAR hoods were a good fit when new, but bowed over time because they did not have enough strength built into the sides. There is a guy in PA. that supposedly builds really nice AAR & T/A hoods from the original molds, but he beefs up the underside so they will not warp. Price is a little steep though.

Be careful of advice given here...with that said....
This works

Take a 2x4 and cut it so you have 2 squares.
Drill a hole in the middle for the hood pin
Slide the blocks over the hood pin and set the hood down on the blocks.
Place a big block cylinder head [on a towel] on the afflicted area and leave it for a couple of weeks. If you can leave the car in the sun it's even better. The bow will disappear.

Once again never say never with mopar
look at the unrestored cars with the 3 studs and nuts holding the fenders on you will find them between the fender and the inner fender

My AAR has never had the fenders off and it has the studs in the three center holes and flat washers underneath them as well. I'm sure my other one at the shop is the same, but it is not sitting in the garage to check. I've heard that AAR's were the only ones that had that setup, but never never knew that it was to match the hood. That might have been a quick fix at the factory, I don't know. I can tell you this, it did not work after they sat in the sun for very long. Gee, without the washers, I could have pulled the motor in and out before I took the springs off!

My Challenger also has the studs in the center with washers between the fenders and inner fenders.
