Truck Dana's usually don't have pinion snubber provisions so it would have to go to a racecar build.

They have to be cut and ends welded on.Pinion snubber isnt a big deal.Gus a member here has a Dana for me.I just have to see when my son can pick it up.My buddy will cut it and weld new ends on.Axles can be had for 300 or so new from Dr Diff.Rocky

If you use the right springs and shocks you don't need a pinion snubber
Hey Rocky one of the hillbilly lube guys was sniffing around the Dana yesterday for his jeep I almost bought a chrome cover for it at summit today for $10.00 on the return table.

If you say so, funny when my car was running mid 10's I was always able to 60' like a 10 OH car with proper springs, shocks and Pinion Snubber.

Just think how much better it would work if it wasn't bound up with that pinion snubber wedged against the floor pan
All kind of setups out there that work for different cars but most chassis guys will tell you the snubber is just a bandaid.

Isn't the tube diameter 3.5 inches instead of 3"?
I thought you had to use a 3/4 ton ford Dana. I could be wrong though.

Dana made the Dana 60 housings with many different diameter axle tubes, from 2.5 inches to 3 1/4 inches, I believe The ones made for the Mopar pasenger cars had 3.0 inch diameter tubes with the pinion snubber pad machined in and drilled and tapped for the retaining bolts, big no good bandaid as far as traction is concerned I have not seen one myself but I have heard that Dana made some 60 models rear ends for Ford 1/2 ton pickups with 5 bolt flanged non full floating axles that had the 3.0 diameter axles tubes also The one bad thing about the 3 1/8 and 3 1/4 axles tubes in a street passenger car with stock leaf springs is getting or making a lower shock mount plate and finding a set of U bolts for the bigger axle tubes On a race car it is no big deal to open up the weld on axle brackets to fit the larger tubes for ladder bars or 4 link brackets As already said when using a 3/4 ton Dana 60 housing you do need to cut and replace the axle ends so you can use a set of stock Mopar rear brakes and stock type passenger car axles with 5 lugs also Unless you really want to run 8 lug wheels and full floating axles I've seen that done also

When I had a truck Dana that I was considering using, I was thinking of fabbing a snubber to bolt to the floorpan.

I have one for my wagon from an early 70's Dodge truck assy. 3 in tubes but 1/2 in thick tubes.Tubes welded in. It is a 60 HD.(cast HD inside) Extra 30# or so but ok for a street car.No fun cutting those tubes. Also fabbing a snubber for the floor.

In case you hadn't picked it up, no one is saying bolt the Dana 60 in without first converting it from 8 lug, full floating hubs to a passengercar style semi floating rear with passengercar style brakes and 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern for the wheels.

I did that to mine. Mine is out of a 68 dodge 3/4 ton truck. It's under my race car now.

If you can find an early 60s Imperial , they had Danas but the bolt pattern is the same as the older Ford P/us . Its 5 hole but maybe 6" bolt pattern
