Here's some green paint on this used big block 727 warranty, service, over the counter, replacement, whatever you want to call it today, transmission.
It is under the crud where the tailsock meet the main body and been there since day one I assume.

As promised but a week or so late. Here is a picture of the trans for a 66 Coronet WE21 car. The x and the 60 on the tailshaft housing were the only inked/painted on markings.

The color matching the speedo gear color could be exactly right. It makes sense to me. The Bee, I think, is suppose to be a 3.23 gear and is a 5500 mile car with F70-14's.

Looking at the YO catalog that would be a yellow gear. But if it turned out to be a 3.55 gear, then it is red.

My 71 GTX was a 3.23 gear, had a green stripe, but I don't know if it was F70-14 or a G70-14. Again, an F70 would have been a yellow gear, and a G70-14 isn't listed in the YO catalog.

Hello everybody. I worked at the transmission plant and seen most of the marks. The colors usually were shift color ,blue=dayshift,red=2nd ,green=midnight. The numbers on the tail look like count numbers taken at the end of the shift. The stamping on tail is a final test stamp. The tester maybe had a toolmaker make him the design. The other marks were usually o.k. inspection marks .The speedo marks could be i.d. for gear or production dept.shift i.d. Hope that helps.
