I just ordered these, we'll see if they'll work. Said to be from a 72 A-body 318

Look at the bright side at least the block was able to be machined not like the other block that's on the market for sale

Ok, let's start over here, a lot of confusing info has been posted on this thread.

Some say a 360 bracket will work. if so what year & model combo 360 bracket am I looking for (or 318 for that matter)?

If a 360? When did they ever install a 360 in an A-body with biscuit style engine mounts? They didn't, one year only 360 was used in A-body cars and that was 1974, and then the A-body used spool style engine mounts. I know for sure a 1971 style 340 mount will not fit, the bracket is too narrow to bolt up.

So which OEM mounts will fit my resto 340 engine AND my 1971 A-body biscuit style K-member?

Scott,is the problem with the width of the bracket or the bolt hole location or both?I'am checking a bunch of mounting hardware against a block to see if we can find the right combo. As I mentioned before we haven't had these kind of issues when using the correct mounts with the correct k-member but these cars were E-bodys.Give us a call with the block pad deminsions and we maybe able to figure it out.We even have some biscuit mounts that we can check.

I'm going to say none. Fire up the band saw and the welder.

Here are the dimensions. The bracket shown is a 67-72 318 mount (AFAIK). It is wider than my 340 mount and would fit the resto block if the rear ear hole were higher.

The passenger side mount fits the drivers side boses but the holes for the rubber mount would be located in the wrong place. I suppose using another passenger side bracket with new holes drilled to put the rubber mount in the correct location would work.

As mentioned earlier by others,if that's the main issue just fab up an extension, weld it on the existing mount. You can grind the welds smooth and it would look stock. You can always drill the insulator hole where needed. You might be pulling your hair out trying to find the right bracket.I'am still looking at our parts and one of our guys who has a 340 resto block will be in the shop Saturday and I will pick his brain.

I think this is the easiest and best approach. Who knows what happend there but it is a MP piece so anything is possible.

That looks exactly like the OE bracket in my '71 Demon 318, to which I added a strap to reach the upper hole when I installed a 360 more than a decade ago. I just looked at a 340, 4 360's and a 318 Poly and NONE has the lower rear hole. It looks like width isn't the only difference in the 318 and 340 brackets.

EDIT: Somebody who makes brackets and such should probably create this part. I don't know what they were thinking at MP when they decided to make 340 ears at 318 width.

Scott. I PM'd you about the brackets I have. I'm posting them on here for all to see. Take a good look and see what might fit. One of them has an extra hole in it for the pad. I didn't do it.

PM joesixpack - he has plenty of pictures and knows exactly what is supposed to be on which engine/body combo.

When it comes to stock applications I have no doubt that he does. However, at this point I'm not so sure ANYONE knows the answer to my question aside from building a custom mount.

Chrysler really had their head up their azz with this mount idea. I got pissed off trying to find something that would fit and just decided to make my own with some 3"square tubing. It took a couple hours but in the end I think it saved my sanity.

I think I've solved (part of) the problem. The Mounts I bought off ebay the other day (said to be from a 1972 318 Duster) arrived today. The bracket shown on the right fits the drivers side of my Resto block and I believe the two motor mount holes are in the correct (forward) location for my stock biscuit style motor mount and 71 A-body K-member.

I have several other sets on the way from a couple sources so that I can do further comparisons. Interesting that the small block mounts varied so much over the years, apparently for no good reason?

I'll be trial fitting my engine to the K-member tomorrow to confirm. What I am still trying to determine (for certain) is which original application this bracket is from (year/model/side of engine, etc.) so that we can help out the next guy should this one work. If it is from a narrow selection of years/models I'll probably get them reproduced for the heck of it.

Go hard man- It might be a small market but there IS a market for it none the less!
For the life of me I can't understand what Chrysler was thinking when they decided to cast these blocks with a mount that nobody knows what fits.
