Tony, the first pic it looks like you have a valve cover bolt that was long enough to break into the port... Am I seeing that correctly?
that is exactly what that is, i found it on another hole also. but that is not a high oil place and the gasket surrounds the hole. but it's a hole none the less. good eye I never noticed that but I can't half see anyway.

take a look at your 2nd picture, the silicone is washed away at the bottom and there is a residue stream toward the valves.just a different look.
true but even if the gasket is leaking it would not explain the oil build up after the motor is off would it? there is way over an ounce on all valves that are closed.

could be, I think I may have put a skim coat around the port this time to see if that may help the seal. i have heard that before.

Who knows, may not even be the problem but years ago Cab showed me the importance of manifold measuring and fitting and it`s way more critical than some may think.
yea i know, guess i'll have to send the heads and intake off to get checked

You need to do it yourself on the motor no way a machinest would know what to do. It`s not that hard but critical ESPECIALLY the angles between the intake and head face. Jew can do it.............
ok how?

It sounds like it's time to clean off all the gasket material and check the fit of the intake with feeler gauges. Another way to do it is with clay. Either way will show up any problems. You can't always assume that because the heads have the proper intake face angle that the block is a true 90 degrees. The opposite is also true.

I just talked to the previous owner he said he used one of your favorite cleaning wheels to get the old gaskets off before he seen your post but didn't think he took any material off. want to explain how to check? are you by your phone?

If all the above fails, try enlarging you bolt sizes a size or two. After doing all of the above and more with no results, enlarging the holes a size or two has cured the problem for me on several intakes.I had to do it on my LD Indy Tunnel-Ram intake that with the top carb.plate off the intake ports lined up perfect and the bolt holes looked perfect but were off just enough to cause the problem.
