Does anybody know where I can get an evaporator for a 1975 Cordoba? I finally checked my system for leaks and it is leaking. I can't find any suppliers that have them, and none on ebay.

Any ideas?

I have a used one, but I'm surprised there's none on Ebay. I see them fairly regularly.

let me know if you want mine, or I'll try to find you one.

I don't have it out of the car yet, so I'm not sure if it could be repaired.

Magnum. I'll send you a PM.

Thanks
Dave

Nope, he's right Bill. This is another part that has disappeared from ebay, and from places like Rock Auto. We had a Cordoba Club member looking for one as well. I've been watching for him, but have not come up with anything.

Thanks Challenger 1. I sent them an e-mail. They do show a listing for it, so we'll see what they say.

Here is the response from Polar Bear.

Hello Dave;

I checked our shelf and we do not have this in stock. I do have the 79 Cordoba in stock, but not the 75. Sometimes I can have these custom made. I can get you a price if you like, the last time I checked for an older Chrysler, I think the evaporator was somewhere around $400.00 plus freight, and a 3 week wait.

Regards,

Gretchen

So... It looks like it is not being produced any longer!

Sounds like it's not a stocked item, but could be built if ordered. That is different than not being produced anymore.

I sure would ask for a price, 3 weeks or 3 months what does it matter? I see guys on here asking about the same part for years.

Is $400 bucks worth it to you? If not then don't even ask for a price, IMO.

I wonder if the 1979 part could be made to work in a 1975 Cordoba? No idea what was different between the condensers during these years.

The only difference i could see would be if the exspanion valve is different the 79 would have the square type and yours is probaly the threaded on type ? if thats the case you would have to switch the hoses and get a new exspanion valve

The expansion valve in the '75 is the square "H type". I'm not sure of the difference's in the evaporator core itself.

On the 75 to 78, the lines are verticle, on the 79, it's horizontal, the heaterbox is different which means you need a 78 and back, not sure if maybe even a 73/74 B body wouldn't fit as a last resort.

There are numerous differences between 78 and 79 Magnums, Cordoba's included, no wonder they almost went backrupt.

Anyway,

It's been a while, but I finally have a new evaporator being shipped to me for the Cordoba.

I shipped my original to Classic Auto Air hoping it could be repaired. Unfortunately that was not a possibility, but they were able to send it out to be duplicated.

Here is a pic of the original next to the new one. Total cost was $450.

Glad you were able to get something for the Doba. It may be expensive, but I imagine ones for newer cars are as pricey. I'm keeping this thread handy.

Thanks for the update.
