What is the largest rear tire and wheel that will go on a 64 Plymouth Belvedere/Savoy without any modifications to the spring location, etc. ?
Who makes the best Max Wedge scoop for one of these cars ?

Thanks for any help and / or pics

On my 63 Sport Fury I have 30 x 9's as thats whats on it in this pic. As for height I could fit a 31" tall tire but thats about it for my stock wheelwells. I had 29.5 x 10.5's on it on an 8" rim and they fit good but only had about 1/4 to 3/8 room between the leaf spring and tire. They would work fine for race only but for me they would rub to much on turns when the tire flexed as I street drive it 99% of the time. The biggest I should be able to fit is a 31 x 11 but only for racing where you dont make many turns. I went to the 30 x 9's in this pic because I got tired of the tires rubbing the leafs springs on sharp turns and I know the car will hook to run 10's on the 9" tire because of the good tires they make today. Heck I see cars running 9's on 9" tires. You dont have to put a 14" tire under a car to run 10's. On a beltway ramp I actually had smoke coming from the rear wheelwell as it was a long curve on that ramp. I am using a radial slick right now because I cant find a 30 x 9 in a drag radial so I just drive on the radial slicks and they handle good since I have radials up front. Ron

The last 1965 Plymouth Belvedere 2 I did black on black 426 Max Wedge four speed ,391 rear . I put 15x8 rims with 5" back space and a 275x60x15 tire and had lots of room. a real Mopar Man !

I wonder if you could run a 10' wheel with the correct backspacing and 275/60 tire ? I mean would this work and you still be able to get the car low and nasty ?

30 x 9 Radial Slick on a 10" wheel leaves plenty of room and as said by others, the 9" radial will hold alot of power and unless you are running some extremely low et's it is more than enough.

I doubt that a 10" rim would clear without surgery. I run a unmodified 8" (4.312"bs more or less ) ramcharger wheel with 295/50's The side wall is less than an inch from the springs and I had to clearance the inner fenderwell. I also have a set of 275/60's on the same rim with pretty much the same results

Sorry for the delayed response...I haven't checked in on this site in a few days...

anyways, I honestly don't recall the backspacing off the top of my head, I have a spare set of wheels I will measure tonight and let you know.

The only modification required to allow for extra clearence is rolling the inner quarter panel lip over smooth. Factory located laef springs.

We use a 8" wheel with equal spacing and a 10X29X15 slick and have plenty of clearence inside and out.

I could not get a 10 inch steel wheel under my 64 Belvedere. I have SS springs in factory location. I cut center loose to try different back spaces nothing would work.
