Anyone ever convert their window sticker to today's dollars? Did this, and got a few eye popping surprises.

My 1969 car was built in November 1968. $1.00/1968 equals $6.72/2013 (U.S. Dept. of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics).

Check out the $900 radio and the $430 wire wheel covers. Those covers were stolen in 1969, a few months after I got the car, and they were so expensive (just imagine the parts counter price) I just replaced them with much cheaper used Plymouth imitation mag wheel hub caps. I thought the imitation mags looked as good or better. Wire wheels looked good in the sales brochure but just didn't look right on a muscle car anyway.

This car for a little over $27,000 sounds like a pretty good deal now.

Very cool comparison. Thank you.

What does does the lowest Mustang GT sticker out at currently?

To slightly more fair you should add A/C and P/S to that Barracuda price.

A/C and fast steering (anti-power steering) are included in the bottom line.

Could the price difference in a today's Mustang GT (or Challenger) and $27,000 be explained by the cost of the computer, pollution control equipment, sensors, air bags, navigation system, sonar, 7 extra coils, fuel injector system, extra copper in all the additional wiring, and other such items?
