If you need an A body front spring hanger, too late. Discontinued by American Muscle.

My originals have only the two 5/8" side holes, while this photo shows another smaller side hole.

My A body has 160,000 miles on it, so the 5/8" holes in the hangers are worn oblong due to not enough bearing surface, only the thickness of the bracket. The bolts are worn out as well, but very good reproduction bolts and nuts are available from amkproducts.com.

Looks like I will need to add weld metal to the original holes and line bore to make sure both holes are on the same center line and parallel to the base. I've never line bored before, but I've seen it done, and I think I can make a setup on a drill press that will work.

Does anyone know what welding process should be used for best machineability?

Hmmm...can't say I've been to every junk yard within 200 miles of Houston, but I've been to a bunch, and I've seen Mustangs, Firebirds, and even Bricklins, but I've never, ever seen a Mopar A Body.

Anybody in southeast Texas know of a yard with at least one A body?

4 doors had the same hangers and they are plentiful in most parts, not to mention there are usually some at most any decent size Mopar show, I would think Houston would be eat up with Mopar guys, find the network and ask around. Probably a dozen guys from Houston on Moparts. I bet Troy could tell you where to find them.

Careful, your character's showing!

If you are not concerned with OEM appearance, Rick Ehrenberg has them.

Sand blast the rust from the surrounding area..I would suggest Mig Welding it...should be soft enough to machine back to new....

..i made mine to lower ride height,so my holes are higher.
use standard 3 1/2" square tubing,3/16 " wall thickness.
just cut away, and drill your holes to duplicate your
original pieces

Thanks, guys. Trying to keep my 69 notchback original, as close as possible to like it was when I picked it up new. That's why I will consider restoring the old hangers if I can't find excellent replacements.

My thought has been that used hangers would probably have the 5/8 holes worn out too. As best I can tell, these came from the factory with a tight fit, 5/8" bolts in 5/8" holes. Likely anything other than a tight fit will be rattle prone, even with the 125 ft-lb tightening spec.

This is bragging, but I ordered the car with Formula S, fast steering, AM/FM(!), console, 4-speed, A/C, and deluxe buckets with chrome inserts in the seat backs.
