I am looking on the internet to get a 3.31 stroke forged crank for my next engine build
I found out that the small mopar forged crank casting numbers are 2532457, 2128869, 2205700 or 2843868; service part number, 2843868
http://www.moparchat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87974
http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=1969562721
http://www.mopar1.us/casting.html
Where is the number located on the crank?
I do know that forged cranks have a wider parting line than a cast crank.
I also know the rods are 2.125" and the mains are 2.50".

273's, 318's and 340's have same stroke
How exactly do I measure the 3.31" stroke?

thanks

I have a 273 with the pan off I'll take a pics so you have a positive ID

if it came out of 273/318/340 than its a stock stroke crank, all of these are neutral balance, so look at. the balancer and crank weights to tell what you have, to measure you'll need the distance from crank centerline to rod journal center line.

Here's a "2532457" 273/318 crank. Other numbers may not be in the same location.

Wait, the pic you posted has a casting number and wide parting line to show its a forged crank, what did you mean by not having a casting number?

Also aren't 2532457 cranks from 340's?

thanks

IT'S A FORGING NUMBER, !@#$%!.

Forgings have forging numbers, castings have casting numbers.

Castings have square corners and sometimes have surfaces which are rough, as-cast. Forgings have more organic shapes, think of kidney beans.

The only difference between a 273/318 forged crank and a 340 forged crank, is the 340 forged crank has some material drilled out of the #1 and #4 crank throws to balance the heavier pistons used by 340s. You can't tell any difference by the forging number.

R.

Anybody have any luck with re-manufactured cranks?
Are the crankshafts from O Reilly's and Autozone junk?

thanks

Be aware that 273 cranks may have a smaller torq converter registering hole in them. You don't want to find that out after assembly!!!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^What he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
There is nothing wrong with using a 273 forged shaft buy make damn sure you have the back of it drilled out to fit the later converters. I'd rather not discuss just how I acquired this information..
