I'm doing some crank shopping and wondering which is the better buy? A 4.05 stroke is about $20 difference between the 2. I realize they're both Callies but which is better or lighter? Callies Magnum or Compstar? They're 2.10 rod journal. The Molnar uses a 2.00 rod only in the 4.05 stroke which I'm not totally onboard with since rods in that size only use a 3/8" fastener where the 2.10's use a 7/16". These are all Gen III Hemi offerings btw. Is Compstar a economy offering?

The Comp Star is the economy Callies brand. I personally wouldn't sweat 3/8" rod bolts personally if they are quality bolt. I think 7/16" is an overkill in most cases

I'm not sure who is making what. The Magnum has gun drilled main and rod journals according what I've read. The Dragonslayer is the only American made crank they sell according to the website. Would a 2.00 journal have less oil demand? This damn Gen III stuff if still a guessing game in a lot of ways.

Compstar Crank and Rods in my 565" GM Super Gas Roadster .... 7500 rpm through the traps every run....sold motor....was run in a Top Sportsman Truck with Nitrous 4.70's .... motor was sold again here locally .... running 5.20's in a door slammer bracket car .... has well over two hundred runs on it to date....getting close to a refresh

I went with Manley rods they do 2.0" with 7/16 bolts in a few choices of rod design and pin sizes http://www.manleyperformance.com/master_catalog.shtml
