I have been doing some searching, but just curious what the opinions are here. I have a '85 D150 with a big block and 4-speed in it. I need something that will hold the torque well, but will be street friendly---I know, its a big balance act. I just fried the unknown clutch combo in the truck the first time with this vehicle at the track. I got one really crappy run and then fried the clutch in the burnout box on the second run.

I had good luck in the past on another vehicle with the Centerforce D/F setup, but boy is it rough when you want to go flat out and power shift the thing. Thinking about just the CenterForce DF pressure plate and maybe a disk with less holding power to try and comprimise--but I think that is what the CF stage II clutch is. Or just suck it up and get some big static pressure B&B pressure plate and a organic disk---like an old school set up.

A $600+ setup is really out of the question at this point, so I need to be as budget friendly as possible.

What are your thoughts?

You might want to try posting in the Q&A forum as well, most guys on hear race autos. I can relate to the clutch issues, just changed one in my GT Mustang. Due to not running sticky tires, for me the choice was a bit easier. I went with a Mcleod that had about 40 percent more holding power, which matched with the blower I run.

I have been running a Ram 11" long style adjustable with a organic disk for the street and track. Have had god luck so far.

Part numbers are 435? For plate set at 2600 pounds now

I run a Center Force.Been in for a long time and still acts like new.My 440 pushes over 500 HP and it hooks good.Plus a light pedal.I used to run McCleod Borg & Beck and it hooked but had a heavy pedal.Rocky

Thanks for the input. It seems I am on the right train of thought. I will try the Q&A section with it too, I know stick shift guys are a rarer breed and a pure race setup is alot different and while workable on the street, you have to deal with the it being that way.

Save up for a organic dual disc setup. Best of both worlds.
