Epoxy it! Just find the best type that is gas resistant. iirc someone mentioned a brand available at at a marina for boat tanks or someone will chime in with a good recommendation (Epoxy or otherwise). As you know clean the surfaces very well first. Pull the sender for access to both sides.

I just rebuilt a thermoquad for a guy & the wells have been priorly sealed with what appears to be grey JB weld. It's rock solid & ethanol & non ethanol has been available at Nebraska pumps since the early 80's so I would ASSuME that it has had ethanol in it, how much I dont know (till I speak with the owner) & maybe the wells were not leaking at all so no liquid gas was getting to the JB directly from the bowl at least but that the owner was just being proactive as that is a known problem area

I used JB to plug a hole in the bottom of my kids old car that was stolen and drained.Insert a screw,JB then let dry and more JB.It lasted for at least 5 years. It was a beater so I figured Id try it.Never leaked a drop and had gas on it constantly.People that bought the car finally sold it to someone out of the area and it was still sealed.Just need it dry and clean.Years ago I had a Jeep that had a leaky tank.Sealed it with JB also.Drove her for 4 years and never leaked. Most screw up by not having a clean dry surface. You can also remove the sender and solder around the leak.I did that when I made a few 3/8s senders from old 5/16s ones.Rocky
