I just got through building a 360, it has 455 lift cam, edelbrock intake, msd 6 al box, 8mm wires, new rods, pistons, etc. What carb would you guys recommend? I have a brand new 625 carter 4bbl. It had a 700cfm holley, that was a joke, even after a rebuild never was quite right, so now I'm wondering if this carter will be better? Any opinions?

what cam/tc/gears/single or dual plane. I think the 625 will be an excellent start. I am a proponent of smaller carbs but I am in the minority there but I even used a 600 holley on a 440 & it ran great. Maybe I was leaving something on the table but I was satisfied.

I don't know I ran a 750D on a very mild 340 (stock 340 cam w/ 1.6 rollers) it ran great after tuning and beat the best et of the 625 by 2 tenths 14.06 to the 750Dp's 13.86. I'd think the 700 depending on how you can tune it would be a decent carb. That said the 625 should also work fine.

I'm running a 770SA on my 323". I wouldn't advise anybody else do that . the stiff springs, and engine vacuum worked out.

It has a mopar purple shaft:455/ lift 232 duration. mp lifters, double valve springs, stock replacement mp gears and chain(double roller). Stock crank and bottom. DUAL PLANE EDELBROCK performer intake. MP distributor and pickup, msd ignition and wires. The holley seemed to just be too much, there were times it would be way over board and most of the time it had stumble out of the hole, even after being rebuilt.

Whats the intended purpose of the car? If its a daily driver with maybe a couple times to the track, then I would go with the 625. Throttle response will be better with the smaller carb. You may leave a little bit of power on the table, but it will be more in the higher RPMs.

It actually is going to one of my trucks. I always like to put a little ooommpphhh into them. Most people ask "why all of that for a 4x4 truck" until they ride in it then they understand!!! Most people like the cars (and I do to) but I like to be different and apply those concepts to trucks, then go play with the cars that everybody else has. Nothing like cooking the paint off of a 5.0 liter rustang in a dodge truck,, the reaction is priceless!!!

CFM of carbs is a bit decieving a Edey 625 doesnt flow the same as a 625 Holley or Demon. For street application or mild Bracket racing I prefer a smaller carb also. That said the Edey will likely run the best out of the box for a truck small venturies will give it good velocity at lower speeds.360s came with thermo toilets and Quadratoilets both in the 800cfm range. The holley 700 stumble is a tuning issue rebuilding it and putting back together the same way it came apart wont produce a change in that. You were going dead lean in the transition. That can be fixed by differant accelerator pump cams bigger squirters etc. When you get a holley or Demon carb dialed in they will make more power than the Edey

Holley's are great but they do take some tweaking. I suggest you also add a 1/2" 4 hole spacer to the Performer.

I have a 340 punched .060 over, with a decked block,
and 10.5:1 pistons, running a .510 lift cam, and a dual plane Eddy intake. Been tweaking the heck out of my 750 holley all summer. Finally got it decent
but it still runs a bit rich. Picked up a 670sa Holley to try in the spring, but I think it will
be better. I don't really plan on running over 6 grand all that ofter. For what it's worth.

Hollies are tricky. You have to get the balance of "power valve" right, for the secondary jetting spread. I havent used DP hollies ever , rather I've found that a stiff secondary spring to pull against works fine.

A 600 edelbrock performer is a out of the box , bolt on. Generaly considered a better choice for a 19-21 lbs of vacuum, engine.
