I know we've discussed the quality of the available reproduction parts but id like to know who bought from where and how bad was it/

I need to pick one up within a week and would like to lessen the impact of a poor part vs a not that great part. talking about a 70 B body with 3/8 line with the 1/4 return.

TIA!

I bought my tank and sending unit thru Year One for my 70 Charger Daytona 3/8 sender unit 19 gal tank,...My sending unit only required a 10 gauge ground wire added, instead of the factory line ground strap for a proper reading, although I did take the time to use an ohm meter and tweak the float rod to my readings....I have no issues at the dash gauge either with level readings vs actual gallons fueled...IIRC the components were Quantra

i paid close to $150.00 for my 3/8" sending unit from Mancini. i was told it was a (restoration quality) unit. it's no better than the $39.00 junk everyone else sells.

Yup. What he said.

Why can't ANY COMPANY make a correct reading reproduction.

Don't blame it on the gage. Don't blame it on the 5 volt reduction resistor. Don't blame it on anything. Make a f€^*king correct product or don't sell it to us.

Has anyone tried the unit that Kramer Automotive sells? I was just going to get the one that Rockauto lists with their Spectra tanks, but I saw Kramers which is much more $. Anyone know if there are differences with that one?

I put a larger (3/8") fuel pickup in my '64 Polara and replaced the sender with one from a 1967 Mustang (repop @ $14.95). It matched the original exactly. I paid about $7.00 for the tube from NAPA, formed it myself, put on a new sock filter and gasket. I was done for way under $50.00! Think outside the box.

I have used repro sending units in a Chevy truck and a Nova. They worked perfectly and were inexpensive. It just seems the Mopar units are all troublesome for some reason. If the go to the trouble of building them how much trouble would it be to listen to the folks that use them and at least include instructions if we have to fiddle with them. I bought one from Right Stuff at spring Carlisle. I asked them if they had any problems with them. The guy said no one has ever complained. I haven't tried mine yet but i do have a Mopar unit just in case. Right Stuff was about $44, Mopar unit was $137. It seems prices are all over the place and paying more does not mean you get a better one.

I think the "issues" with Mopar repro tank sending units, isn't so much as they are "troublesome", as I think it's more a case of "installation error"...I've done perhaps a half dozen or more sending units in the last few years, using repros with little to no fanfare, a better grounding system rather than the cheesy line strap used, an OHM meter, and initial set up to "tune" the travel of the float vs OHM readings, plus confirming you have continuity to the sender system/gauge...I think most just have the "bolt-in" mentallity, and expect it to work 100% out of the box without spending time to set it up...
