Hi guys, alot of good information on here! I picked up a 74 club cab along with a bed full of parts. It is currently a manual steering machine and I was wondering if all I need is the power steering box to convert, or do I need the steering column along with it like on the A B and E bodies? Also, will the column out of a late 80's bolt in? I have an 88 4wd ,looks like it bolts to the dash the same and I am not worried about the wiring. It would be nice to have tilt!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE!

If your not worried about the wiring, and it bolts in the same, I would think it will be OK. The question is (and you did not provide this info), are both trucks big/small blocks? So the brackets will all bolt right up. Don't forget the power steering pump too!

As long as the rag joint is in the same location they should bolt up

the lower 1/2 of steering colum is shorter for the power steer box with any colum.

basic bolt up the same. but tilt has special plugs/adaptors for the wireharness. it is based off a GM tilt colum when looking for "how too" and "parts" for them.

watch yrs for gear selct indicater hook up on the colum, some on the colum/some in the dash gauge cluster and wipers/turn sig move to colum in mid 80s. correct dash harness is needed.

I guess you can hack the wires for hook up? I know I have.

some have rag joints both ends/ some have a rag joint with a pot coupler at the box end, those have to be matched up going from manaul to power on the shorter shaft.

a " Borg" shaft is a good upgrade for the lower 1/2 of the colum on all of the doge trucks as well as the steering box frame support bracket found on mid 80s trucks.

72-80 gear indicator is on column. Tilt is deff shorter. The plug is just an adapter plug.
