The 383 in my Fury is a hodge podge reman shop deal from decades ago that had mismatched heads and other items you'd expect from such. I've noticed significant rpm vibration from 2400-3000rpm or so, any gear, any speed, so I assume it's the engine and nothing else in the driveline. I've never had the wrong balancer on anything before so I don't know how it manifests itself?

Hopefully swapping the dampener will take care of it & that it's not a torque converter balance issue but I would see what it has for weights on it

It's probably both. The one I had got a lot better after getting the weights on the convertor, but at the time I didn't the tools or experience to figure out how to get the balancer off. Sold the car that way...

I've got an a500 behind it with a neutral converter too of course, but the weighted flexplate can fix that. I've been planning on building a new short block anyway, but if this is true I need to find another crank.
Next question, can I damage my trans with this like it is? It's been this way for several years now but just this year did I really start to notice the bad vibrations. Should I park the car until I can do something about it?

YES !!!!!! It's not going to get any better.
The 383 in my dart had a vibration when I got it, I searched around, decided it needed a new clutch and when I pulled the flywheel it appeared to be an external balance wheel.
When I had the shop cut it they told me it was off .020 from being flat and after they fixed that they rebalnaced it abd found it was out of balance. After I put it all back together the vibration is till there , car sitting still , so I had the balancer checked , it's within 2 grams of perfect neutral , so I have to ASSuME that the years of it being driven with the wrong flywheel has done something to it ???

I had the pan off 1 time to do the rear main seal, sure wish I had bothered to actually look at the crank while I was in there...
