..... but "EF8" first appeared as a Charger ONLY color spring of '68 & paint code "6".
if it was exactly the same formula then it should have been called DF8. interesting...if it wasn`t the same formula then it is just ef8 like eb5 gb5 kb5 still b5 but different formula and different in color but still b5 blue. all the best frank. getting back to original question-definitely won`t be butterscotch but could be anything from any manufacturer. any pics???

It is & was the same, that's why I posted it - exception to the "RULE".
The 99 or 999 pant codes could be anything. The easiest to figure (& probably convince Chrysler to paint a car back-in-the-day) are the "fleet" colors or those that were reserved for specific car lines (c-body or IMPERIAL color on a b-body) & there are some known cars hat were delivered in primer & whatever you want to call the finish on the B0/L0 '68 Super Stock a-bodies. There are some "pastel pink" '65 Barracudas.
WAG with no additional information - I'd guess the OP's car could be faded "Omaha orange" a known fleet color that a number of performance 1968-'69 a & b-bodies were painted.

EE1 is a dark blue in 68
"EE1" isn't a paint CODE it is a paint STYLE for 1968
"E" = paint CODE for "dark blue metallic" in Dodge speak for 1968.
"EE1" = paint STYLE ('68) ~~~~ "E" = roof paint - "dark blue metallic" ~~~~ "E" = body paint - "dark blue metallic" ~~~~ "1" = mono-tone paint STYLE
"EW2" = paint STYLE ('68) ~~~~ "E" = roof paint - "dark blue metallic" ~~~~ "W" = body paint - "white" ~~~~ "2" = two-tone paint STYLE

Reason for ? is I was going to look at a 68 coronet r/t 4spd car. Last time I saw car it was dark out and it looked to be butterscotch. When I looked at it in the shop yesterday it was a little different and turned out to be (404 SPD build) JJ1 paint as called out by fender tag.

Is there anything you don't know Dan? LOL I know you've told me this before, but I forgot all about it. Thanks for the refresher.

That would be true IF model-year-of-first-use-letter-code-designator was used on Window Stickers, Broadcast sheets or tags in 69. There was no letter code used like DF8...only F8. Had the color been used in 70 or later, then the use DF8 would be appropriate. Remember...'69 was different that the rest of the years as it only used a two character paint code, not three as in previous and following years.
The same thing applies to R4. It was a spring of 68 color carried over to 69.

but ..... 6, F8, EF8 was used 1968, 1969, 1970 for "dark green metallic"/"ivy green metallic" as was S, Y2, DY2 was used 1968, 1969, 1970 for "yellow"/"sunfire yellow" & H, Y3, DY3 was used 1968, 1969, 1970 for "light gold"-"cream"/"yellow gold" & R, DR8 was used 1968, 1970 for "burgundy metallic"
WAG, but I'd bet the color pallet was set for 1969 by the time the "spring special '68" colors were selected. (3/R4, 4/Q5, 6/F8)

Hi Dan,
Q5 used on 1968 cars? I know that 3,6 (red and green) were introduced. "L" is the common turquoise in 1968. I never saw any 1968 in Q5 ? You got any pics and more info?
