Do all 451 stroker pistons used with a 440 rod have the oil control ring partially into the wrist pin hole??

The 451 (3.75 stroke, 6.76 rod) usually runs about 1.3" compression height. Typically no oil support ring is required.

With 4.125 stroke different story... the ring is in the pin area and a ring support is needed.

My KB 280's (400 block/6.76 rods/440 crank) are that way but I'm not anticipating an issue from that (not together yet)

w/ahy I have a 3.900 400 block with 6.760 rods and 1.270 comp.height and the pin is not in the ring. Call Diamond piston...they will hook you up with some beautiful pieces

Here is Ross. The * denotes oil support rail... 3.9 and 4.15 stroke only.

I run Ross with 4.15 stroke and they do have the rail. I've had no problems with over 10k miles. These are forged. Maybe with the hypers the ring pack needs to be a little lower thus the rail.

Depends on the piston , A KB hyper , as RR has , has a wide ring spacing between the top and second ring , couple that with a Chrysler pin of 1.09 and you can have a pin in the oil rings . Use a piston with a .990 pin and you shouldn't have an issue.

FYI the same piston , 1.320 CH is used for with a 3.75 stroke , 3.9 stroke and 4.25 stroke low deck, just use a piston with a .990 pin and chose the correct rod length.
