The front journal gave up the ghost. Was a Callis 4.05" stroker crank and I take it it didn't like the additional strain of an F1R cog drive blower hanging off the front.

Anyways the front main cap was junk and when the front cap was pulled off noticed that there was a hair line crack on both sides of the block from the main cap mating surface bolt hole and worked its way to the upper shell main bearing surface.

Any way to fix it or is the block just a paper weight?

Not sure, you might be able to stitch it (boiler makers trick where you drill and tap over lapping holes in the crack). I know guys that have done it in combustion chambers and on 5.9 Cummins blocks. Not sure if it would be worth it $ wise though

Is this out of your truck? What mind of power was it making? Do you think the crack was from to much power or from the crank breaking?

Boat anchor,,,or send it to me and I will have a set of 'book ends' to
hold G3 shop manuals. That sucks Jerry.

Not my truck thank goodness. Definatly the damage was from the crank breaking. I believe this next go around it will either have an ATI sprag on the crank pulley or blower pulley which will = less strain on the crank snout between shifts and decell. How much hp? The low compression engine made 545hp/535tq on the engine dyno at 5800 rpm. Alot of changes since then as far as a different intake manifold, thottle body size, injectors, fuel delivery and tuning. Then add 23 psi of boost and a 2 stage shot of 175 n2o. This truck is out of Thunder Bay, ON. Makes enough hp/tq to lift the left front tire at the hit in a 4900 lb full size/street trim Ram pickup.

His next engine will be a stroked G3 aluminum block, worked over Apache heads, 6.1 Mod Man intake, F1C cog drive blower...etc, etc.

It's just that its a rare 6.1 block that I didn't want to turn into a book end if I could salvage it. BTW, the cross bolts did what were suppose to do. I figured the block would crack and fail there before the blocks main cap failed.

The problem is that it failed in tension. Metal stitch doesn't restore the strength across the crack. It prevents relative motion laterally, but drilling a bunch of overlapping holes with little bits of steel in them doesn't hold the two sides together across the crack.
Weld or replace.
