My factory belts are a bit crusty and have faded in many places. While looking at replacement belts, I came across a 3 point belt kit that caught my attention. My car is a driver, so I do not think this is going to hurt the value of my ride and I will fell alot better if my wife or daughter is in the passenger seat with a shoulder belt. Anyone use a kit before? Known issues?

I am looking at this one:

I used Andover Restraints in my 'Cuda. A major improvement over the factory belts. One possible problem you may have is that my car is a '72 model and they had 3 point belts from the factory. The factory design left a lot to be desired since you couldn't move once you were buckled in. The Andovers use the factory bolts and locations, but they have inertia reals for the shoulder straps so you can move around just like in most cars today. Your car being a '70 model may not have the factory mount in the roof for the shoulder belt. I am not sure just when the factory went to the 3 point design. If you don't have factory bolt locations something will have to be fabricated. You can find out more about the Andovers at www.andoauto.com/retrofit.htm

Currently I only have lap belts, so it sounds like at minumum I could easily go to the stock shoulder belt set-up.

Your car had shoulder belts when new. Lots of aftermarket set-ups with and without shoulder retractors available to mount in the factory locations. Both Seatbeltsplus and Juliano's have some good quality sets.
