Just picked up a drum to drum 8.75" a body rear for a upcoming project and found the rear drums are something I have never seen. The have a huge flare out as it reaches the backing plate. If you set them flat on the floor with the backing plate side down the flare out must be at last 1.5" Is this some aftermarket stuff or something that was used by the factory. Does this help ID the year of the whole unit? No Photo Yet, probably tomorrow.
My experiece has been that the flared drums were a 70-72, non flared 69 and down

I forget that small bolt continued on in drum brake cars.

I have seen flared drums on 68-69 Barracuda's. I used to call them Darth Vader drums...

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Those drums were more often seen on Plymouths than Dodges, in fact RARELY seen on Dodges...
I've only owned two A-Body's in my life and both were Dodge's. Both had the flared 10x 1 3/4 drums.
