That's the question. Actually, it's an 833OD. I think I need a 38 tooth based on my info for the 727. So, will the 833OD take the same speedometer drive gear?

Thanks!

Yes, They are the same. The 833 was built by New Process for Ma Mopar.
The 37, 38 and 39 tooth gears are not very easy to find used! Ebay?

Ok, I would like to piggy back this post with the following question.

Is the speedo gear for a 518 the same as a 727?

Im changing gear ratios in the Dakota and would like to match the speedo gear if possible.

Yes. My 92 Getrac uses the standard Mopar gear as well as my 91 518.

It depends on the year of the trans (really just the housing for the gear and the gear are different) and whether there is a mechanical output of just the electrical...

There are at least three different types of speedo gears/housing combos. Two of them will swap as an assembly, one is a stand alone and you cannot swap with the later two styles.

Plus there are special housings for odd ball gear ratios (like 2.45 rear gears) that will not work with other speedo gears.

So the answer is, it depends.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

The different types of speedo pinions, each needs its own specific adapter. (the text isn't mine)

Excellent reference. Thank you.

I need the long style like the bottom one in a 38 tooth (blue). Which used to be 2538938, which superseded to 52068060.

Any chance my local dealer can get one? Or is Brewer's my only real choice? I hate the thought of giving $50+ shipping off ebag for one.
