I'm trying to figure out lubes for a round of 100k maintenance on my 2011 Durango. Its a Hemi, tow package, 2 speed transfer case and ESC equipped.

The owners manual calls for special lube for the TC: MOPAR NV 247/245 lube. I guess I'll go ahead and get that from the dealer unless there is a good replacement.

For the differentials 3 lubes are listed in the OM: 1) front/rear synthetic 75W140 with friction modifier 2) rear with electronic LSD synthetic 75W90 3) rear without electronic LSD synthetic 75W85

My question is which is it for the differentials? I believe traction control on these uses electronics and brakes/throttle (no clutches) so I don't understand the friction modifier recommendation. I plan to run it for a while and do tow with it from time to time so I want to get it right.

Help appreciated.

I too have a 2011 Durango with a hemi and the tow pack. Does your transmission seem to buck going up hills and generally act funny? I love the truck and the MPG on the highway is great but the tranny just seems a little weird.

When we do my kids 04 Ram we just get factory lubes for them. Its not much more than the parts store and you get the right stuff. If in doubt they can run the VIN and know what you need.Rocky

Rocks,

I will go ahead and let the dealer run the vin and get the factory stuff. The owners manual must cover several setups and isn't very specific to put it mildly.

Tim,

My transmission has performed great in every day driving and towing. I've covered at least 2000 miles with loaded open trailer with plenty of hills with no problem. I do hit the "tow" button when loaded. That seems to make it hold a gear longer to prevent "false" shifts. If I forget it does some extra shifting to remind me. If yours is acting funny, may be a good idea to have a dealer look at it. My local Dodge dealer charges 50 or 75 dollars to read the codes and diagnose. Often there is a new software flash to clean up little glitches.

Someone else told me about a computer update for the tranny. Mines only got 20,000 miles to I guess a trip to the dealer makes sense. Good luck with yours. Really nice trucks. Or cars. Or whatever.

Usually there is a TSB for updates to the computer. If there is the dealer should do them free.Scanning for codes most big stores do free.Unless the check engine lite is on there is usually no codes.Just hope you have a good service and or parts guy.My buddy is service manager at the dealer. He is one sharp guy and that includes parts that he did for years also.Rocky
